Itinerary
Our tour guide will be waiting for you in your hotel lobby, you will be transported to the west bank to enjoy first the memorial temple of Ramesses II which known by Rameseum, a name was attributed first by the French Egyptologist Jean Francois Champollion, before that it was known by the “tomb of Ozymandias” (a corruption of Ramses II’s prenomen) described by the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus in the 1st century BC, and the falling colossus of Ramses was the topic of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem “Ozymandias.” Then you will move in front of Ramesseum to visit nobles’ tombs where you can see the high officials and ministers burials throughout the New Kingdom period of Egypt. Later, you will move to another cemetery, but this time is the artists chapel-tombs in their village named “The Place of Truth.” This is the ancient name of Deir el-Medina, the Valley of the Artisans whose workers built and maintained the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. This UNESCO World Heritage site is an extraordinary window into the past with paintings and carvings providing stunning tableaux of life as an ancient Egyptian. Some argue that the artisans saved their best work for themselves. By this, your tour will be done and you will drive back to your hotel in Luxor
