Luxor Day Tour | Explore Luxor's Ancient Wonders
Overview
Luxor City earns its reputation as the world's greatest open-air museum — and a single day here covers more history than most destinations offer in a lifetime. This full-day tour takes you across both banks of the Nile, from the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the architectural elegance of Hatshepsut Temple on the west bank, to the monumental grandeur of Karnak and Luxor Temples on the east — all guided by an expert Egyptologist who brings the stories behind the stones to life. Discover Luxor City's ancient wonders with Egypt Easy Travel.
Itinerary
Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and welcome you to Luxor City, often called the world's greatest open-air museum — a title earned by more than five centuries as ancient Egypt's main capital and the sheer number of monuments that still stand today.
Your day begins on the west bank of the Nile, starting with The Valley of the Kings, where Egypt's most powerful pharaohs were laid to rest. Here you will visit the tombs of Ramesses III, Merenptah, Ramesses V and VI, Tutankhamun, and others, each decorated with remarkably preserved scenes from the ancient world.
From there, you will visit the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari — a unique and striking monument dedicated to the only woman who ruled Egypt as pharaoh for nearly 22 years. On your way back across the Nile, you will pass by the two Colossi of Memnon, the massive seated statues that once guarded the memorial temple of King Amenhotep III.
After lunch at a reputable local restaurant, your afternoon takes you to the east bank, where Egypt's most powerful god, Amun-Re, was worshipped. You will explore the vast Karnak Temple complex, one of the largest religious sites ever built, before continuing south to Luxor Temple — once connected to Karnak by The Avenue of Sphinxes. Your guide will then transfer you back to your hotel.
